Everyone who drives a car pays rego, and now if you happen to be a day late paying your car rego you will get slugged an extra $40 - no matter what. It doesn't matter if life's too busy and you simply forget, or perhaps you sent it off in the mail thinking it would get there in time ...but the mail service takes a little longer then you expect and it doesn't get there in time....it doesn't matter, you have to pay up an extra $40.
On top of this late fee charge, Queensland is the most expensive registration state ....(that is, looking at a standard 6 cylinder family car)
Here is a list of what you pay in Brisbane as compared with other states in
Australia
Queensland:
· 6 month: 356.20
· 12 month: 682.95
· Late fee: 40
· Inclusive of third party insurance
New South Wales:
· Only can pay yearly.
· Depending on the vehicle: between 211 and 237 with a maximum of 337
· No immediate late fee, have leeway up to 3 months after the expiry date to pay. This payment however does get backdated so you do end up paying for the period that you weren’t registered for.
· Not inclusive of CTP. Depends on the postcode, approximately 200-600
Victoria:
· Only 12 month payments
· 12 month: depending on postcode, high risk: 522.20 med : 482.60 low: 440.80
· Late fee: no late fee
· Includes CTP
South Australia:
metropolitan area
· 6 month: 319
· 12 month: 616
· Late fee: 15 dollars 90 days late. After 2 weeks it is recommended that you pay the 15 dollars and start fresh rather than having your payment backdated to the expiry date.
· Inclusive of third party bodily insurance.
country area
· 6 month: 247
· 12 month: 476
· Late fee: 15 dollars 90 days late. After 2 weeks it is recommended that you pay the 15 dollars and start fresh rather than having your payment backdated to the expiry date.

Western Australia:
· 6 month: depending on weight around 240
· 12 month: depending on weight 440
· Late fee: no late fee. 15-day period to sort it out
· Inclusive of third party insurance
Northern Territory:
· 6 month: 241
· 12 month: 475
· Late fee: no late fee however payment is backdated
· Inclusive of third party insurance
Tasmania:
· 6 month: 270.40
· 12 month: 499.05
· Late fee: none at all however payment is backdated
· Inclusive of third party insurance

2- Import nach Australien
Import von Fahrzeugen von Europa nach Australien das gilt auch für Motorräder:

The Government has announced changes to the arrangements for the importation of vehicles 15 years or older. Under the new rules, vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1989 may be imported without restriction. Vehicles built during 1989 (or later) will need to qualify under the Registered Automotive Workshop Scheme (RAWS).
The new rules apply from 13 May 2005. However, transitional arrangements will apply to importers who have made a financial commitment prior to the Minister's announcement on 7 February 2005. These arrangements will continue until 31 December 2005. The Media Release and Frequently Asked Questions outline the new requirements and detail the transitional arrangements.
